        Emergency Shelter Grants Program (ESG)

        The Emergency Shelter Grants Program (ESG) provides grants to fund shelters for homeless individuals and families. Funding from this program can be used by municipalities and counties, as well as non-profit organizations approved by the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA).  

        Examples of eligible projects include:

        •    Facility improvements
        •    Essential services 
        •    Operation and maintenance expenses
        •    Homeless prevention activities

        Program Facts

        Assistance for the homeless is the goal of the Emergency Shelter Grants Program. Municipalities and counties, as well as non-profit organizations that operate homeless shelters, may apply for ESG grants. ESG funds must be matched by funds from other sources on a dollar per dollar basis.
